Jessica Régimbald was born and raised in the greater Montreal area. She has always had a passion for art and science. After completing a bachelor’s degree in art history at the Université de Montréal she then went on to complete a Master’s degree in art conservation with a specialization in paper conservation at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario.

Jessica worked or intern at different institutions, locally and internationally, including at the Canadian Center for Architecture in Montreal and at the Atelier de Conservation et Restauration des Photographies de la Ville de Paris (ARCP), which allowed her to acquire knowledge from a cutting edge institution in photographic materials conservation.

Jessica has experience working with different types of materials. She worked on various kinds of photographs including albumen prints, silver gelatine prints, chromogenic prints, glass plate positives and negatives. She also has experience working with different types of paper based objects such as watercolors, architectural drawings on tracing paper, prints and drawings. Finally, Jessica has worked with archival related materials such as three dimensional architectural models and parchment. She took part in many different aspects of a conservator’s responsibilities, such as dismantling and mounting exhibitions, surveying a collection and preparing and monitoring the shipping of a travelling exhibition. After being part of the team of art conservators and museum professionals who took part in the post flood salvage at the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal (MAC), Jessica developed an interest in working in disaster planning and post-disaster salvage and conservation.

Jessica is also very passionate about participating in furthering the knowledge of the art conservation community. In October 2011, Jessica represented the ARCP at CCI’s symposium, Adhesives and Consolidants for Conservation. She presented a poster on which she collaborated, and discussed the use of Klucel G at the ARCP, Restauration des Photographies de la ville de Paris (ARCP): A Case Study on the Use of Hydroxypropyl Cellulose or Klucel G. The experience acquired on this project helped Jessica with her research project investigating Klucel G. The project, A Comparative Study of Direct Application versus Solvent Reactivation of Klucel G for Paper Conservation, was presented at the 38th Annual Conference and Workshop of the Canadian Association for Conservation of Cultural Property (CAC).
